The Railway Hotel

-----

                                            Breakfast at Tiffany's Newsletter
                                                                   March2011
Held at the Sara's residence, with Clive poking his head in every now and then!!
Apologies: Merryn, Susan, Julia
I would just like to make a note re apologies at late notice: Sara and Judith had gone to a lot of trouble preparing a sumptious feast for us all , it would be helpful I am sure to know a bit sooner if you are not coming. I know some times things can happen at very short notice, but Bousie was not feeling very well and still dragged herself along, as well as the girls making the big trek from the Peninsula, it might sound like a dig, coz it is!!!
Book Reviewed was Love at The Railway Hotel by Sue Hurley:
Thanks to Susie a few of us were able to read this book and the general consensus was that it was a very nice read, it actually raised quite a few issues that we discussedGaye brought to our attention the fact that a lot of australianisms were mentioned throughout the book, making it quite interesting from a brits(Judith) point of view, I really enjoyed the book. Well done Bousie and we supported a new talent.
Susie ahd also taken it upon herself to read Sara's suggested title of the Blue Eyed Boy, not a very nice subject matter and she soldiered on half way through the book. I took one look at the sleeve and went barley, bit of a piker, I read some more Janet Evanovich Stepahanie Plumbs instead.
General Business:
Judith has been made an honorary International member of Breakfast At Tiffany's and will continue to communicate with us via skype and the internet, who knows maybe one day we will all go over there for a visit.
Jill has put in a request for a new member, the lady who was the subject of her story the True Fairytale, her name is Kathleen and she sounds very interesting, it was put to a vote and all were in agreeance that it would be good to round the membership up to an even 10, so a new Breakfast at Tiffanyier there is!!!!!
Jill's Who Am I? proved to be harder than I thought, it was lots of fun, I am sure she will have copies to give you at the next meeting. Well done Babs.
HANDY HINTS: There were only a a couple as most of us including me had forgotten about my request!!!
Susie's Handy Hint: Vinegar is useful as a contraceptive( I am sure you will all need this Not!!!!)
If you are going to paint outside PVC pipes wipe with vinegar first as it will make the paint stick, now you tell me why it works a sa contraceptive???????
Gayes Handy Hint: Don't wash the toilet before a party, wash it afterwards because then it is really dirty
Suggested Title for next months read is The Shelly Beach Writers' Group

What do you do when your husband dumps you for his PA, your company goes broke and your nearly published novel is cancelled?
Gina, a barely 50-something corporate high-flier, is counting her losses when a chance meeting throws a sea change her way. A job as a house/dog-sitter – albeit in a minus one-star leaky cottage in windswept Shelly Beach – seems the perfect opportunity to relax and regroup. But Gina hasn't counted on the locals, and soon finds herself reluctantly convening the writers' group, babysitting, baking, seal-watching, bicycling . . . and perhaps even falling in love.

With a cast of unforgettable characters, The Shelly Beach Writers' Group is an irresistible story of reinvention.
