Movie Review The Help

                    Breakfast at Tiffany's Newsletter
                                                           September
Hi ladies, this is a short and sweet Newsletter.
Shelle, Susan, Susie, Jill, Merryn , Julia and Gaye all attended the viewing of the Help at Brighton Bay Cinemas, everyone loved the movie, and for those that read the book they felt that the casting had been done extremely well and the fashion was fabulous.
I have been giving a lot of thought into the fact that a lot of you are finding it difficult to get the books that are selected read so after discussion with a few of the group it was decided that perhaps we need to make the meetings once every six weeks instead of once a month, this gives everyone plenty of time to source the book or borrow from someone else after they have finished it.
As to the selection of titles, maybe we should follow the CAE suggested reads, starting from the top.
Title for next meeting is
A Thousand Splendid SunsA Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan’s last thirty years—from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to the post-Taliban rebuilding—that puts the violence, fear, hope, and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives—the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness—are inextricable from the history playing out around them.

Propelled by the same storytelling instinct that made The Kite Runner a beloved classic, A Thousand Splendid Suns is at once a remarkable chronicle of three decades of Afghan history and a deeply moving account of family and friendship. It is a striking, heart-wrenching novel of an unforgiving time, an unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love—a stunning accomplishment
